Architecture inspired by King’s Wimbledon
The project brings together partners with extensive international experience in education and large-scale development. The campus has been designed by Broadway Malyan, the international architecture and design practice founded in the United Kingdom, as lead consultant, working with NQH as architecture consultant, while Artelia, the international engineering and project management group, serves as project management consultant.
Set on a site of approximately 1.8 hectares, King’s HCMC has been designed in close collaboration with King’s College School, Wimbledon (King’s Wimbledon), reflecting its exceptional standards of quality and facilities and drawing on nearly 200 years of educational heritage to create a purpose-built teaching and learning environment. Inspired by the school in England, the design brings together traditional red brick façades, windows that draw in natural light, a distinctive roofline and internal courtyards, while the Great Hall, the iconic central building of the Wimbledon school, has inspired a distinctive landmark at King’s HCMC.

Five Purpose-Built Areas of 37,000 Square Metres
The campus is arranged into five main areas: the outdoor learning areas, the Early Years and Infant Building, the Junior and Senior Building, the Great Hall and The Wimbledon Hub, to support the different learning and developmental needs of pupils at every age. With a total usable area of 37,000 square metres, the School will accommodate approximately 1,500 pupils when fully operational.
Outdoor Learning Spaces
As at King’s Wimbledon, outdoor space has been given particular emphasis in the design of the School in Ho Chi Minh City. The teaching buildings are arranged around courtyards that bring natural daylight into the classrooms and give pupils outdoor space to gather and play throughout the day, with a generous green field at the heart of the campus for sport. The buildings have also been carefully orientated to respond to Ho Chi Minh City’s tropical climate, combining natural and additional shading to minimise heat and direct sun exposure.
Purpose-Built Academic Spaces from Early Years to Senior School
The three-storey Early Years and Infant building and the five-storey Junior and Senior building sit side by side on the same campus, making daily drop-off and collection easier for parents and families with siblings at the School. The Early Years and Infant building has been designed around its youngest pupils, connecting classrooms with outdoor play and discovery areas and an indoor learning pool, so that children grow in confidence as they settle into school life. The Junior and Senior building places particular emphasis on in-depth study, independent learning and collaboration, with specialist design and engineering and science laboratories, an expansive library with books in multiple languages, dedicated quiet study areas and distinctive 6-metre-wide learning commons that extend learning beyond the classroom, encouraging shared exploration, the exchange of ideas and discussion.
The Great Hall and The Wimbledon Hub
The Great Hall and The Wimbledon Hub at the heart of the school bring together some of its most distinctive facilities, built to international standards and creating spaces for community connection alongside exceptional opportunities for learning, sport and the arts. Inspired by its counterpart at King’s Wimbledon, the Great Hall will provide a welcoming hub for parents and the wider school community, with a café and space for gathering and connecting. The Wimbledon Hub will feature a 500-seat theatre with modern sound and lighting systems and a large central LED screen, an exhibition gallery for pupils’ artwork and creative projects, a 25-metre competition-standard indoor swimming pool with spectator seating, a multi-purpose sports hall for training and sporting fixtures, a screen golf facility, music and recording studios and a dedicated Sixth Form Centre.

Shaped by Nearly 200 Years of King’s Excellence
Beyond its purpose-built facilities, King’s HCMC is being shaped by the educational expertise of King’s College School, Wimbledon, recently named Independent School of the Year 2026 and winner of the Outstanding Educational Partnerships Award. Its exceptional academic standards are reflected in its 2026 A Level results, with more than half of all grades awarded at A*, the highest possible grade, for the fifth consecutive year. King’s HCMC will bring this heritage of excellence and the wider King’s ethos of Mind, Spirit and Heart to Ho Chi Minh City.
Dr Anne Cotton, Head of King’s Wimbledon and Honorary Principal of King’s HCMC, recently spent time in Ho Chi Minh City working alongside the Founding Leadership Team and visiting the campus ahead of the topping-out milestone. “It was incredible to see the school taking shape last week. The echoes of the campus at Wimbledon are a symbol of the educational excellence we want to shape in partnership together. When they are completed, these buildings will bring together a community of remarkable people, dedicated to a true King’s education”, said Dr Anne Cotton, Head of King’s College School, Wimbledon.
Mr Kieran McLaughlin, Founding Head of School at King’s College Wimbledon Ho Chi Minh City, said the milestone turns a vision into a building that founding families can now see and stand in. “The progress that has been made over recent months has been a joy to witness and the ability to see the buildings growing up around us is very exciting for us now and for next August."
Mr Ben Sommer, Design Director at Broadway Malyan, said: “We drew inspiration from the distinctive red-brick buildings and collegiate courtyards of King’s College School, Wimbledon, bringing the warmth, proportions and sense of community of its architectural heritage into a contemporary school setting. At the same time, we wanted to create flexible, adaptable spaces that support evolving approaches to teaching and learning, creating a school that feels distinctly King’s while responding to the needs of pupils in Ho Chi Minh City.”
Connected location at The Global City
The campus is located within The Global City, a 117.4-hectare new urban centre in the east of Ho Chi Minh City, developed by Masterise Homes to a masterplan by Foster + Partners. The School is approximately 5-10 minutes from Thao Dien, 10 minutes from Thu Thiem and 15 minutes from the city centre, with Lien Phuong Road linking it directly to Thao Dien and An Phu, where many of the city’s international families have long made their homes. The School’s opening in August 2027 will coincide with the arrival of residents in The Global City, and King’s HCMC will grow alongside them as part of a new, well-planned international community in Ho Chi Minh City.
As the campus continues to take shape, families are invited to explore the School through the King’s HCMC virtual tour or to visit the School Gallery at 179 Vo Nguyen Giap, An Khanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, to meet the School Senior Leadership and Admissions team.
