“Where exactly is The Global City?” is one of the questions we are most frequently asked by prospective parents exploring international schools in Ho Chi Minh City.
For families, location is about much more than a point on a map: how easy is the school to reach, what will the daily journey look like, and what is the community around it like?
In August 2027, King’s College Wimbledon Ho Chi Minh City will open in The Global City, bringing the education, ethos and nearly 200-year heritage of King’s College School, Wimbledon to a new purpose-built school in Ho Chi Minh City.
What often surprises families is just how easy it is to get here.
The Global City is approximately five minutes from Thao Dien, one of Ho Chi Minh City’s most established residential hubs for international and Vietnamese families, via the newly developed Lien Phuong Road. It also has convenient connections from An Phu, Thu Thiem, Binh Thanh, central Ho Chi Minh City, District 7 and other residential areas across the city.
The Global City is also rapidly developing as a new residential hub in its own right. With new homes, green spaces, sport, shopping, dining and other amenities taking shape around the school, it will increasingly become a place where King’s HCMC families can live as well as learn.
New road connections and the modern infrastructure of this master-planned neighbourhood provide a greater sense of space and ease of movement than in many of Ho Chi Minh City’s more established residential areas. Within the school itself, carefully planned drop-off and pick-up areas have been designed to support an organised start and end to the school day. King’s HCMC will also operate a dedicated school bus service, providing another convenient option for the daily school journey.
The environment surrounding a school is just as important as the buildings themselves. This combination of connectivity, space and community is an important part of why The Global City was purposefully chosen as the home of King’s HCMC, providing the setting in which we can bring the education, ethos and breadth of experience of King’s College School, Wimbledon to life in Ho Chi Minh City.

For families living in one of Ho Chi Minh City’s largest international residential communities, this makes King’s HCMC much closer than many initially expect.

Families travelling along Mai Chi Tho can also approach The Global City via Song Hanh Street, providing an alternative route into the area.

Combined with the King’s HCMC school bus service, families will have a range of options when planning their daily school journey.
A new community is taking shape
The Global City is not only becoming easier to reach; a new residential community is also developing around King’s HCMC.
New apartments, townhouses and villas are taking shape across the development, with new residences beginning to welcome families from late 2026. Alongside these homes, the continued development of green spaces, sport, leisure, shopping and dining will bring more everyday activity to the area surrounding the school.
For King’s HCMC, this is an important part of our location. The school will open at the heart of a growing neighbourhood, with families increasingly living close by, while remaining conveniently connected to established international communities across the city. As The Global City continues to develop, so too will the community around our school.
